Job Title: Controller Full or Part Time: Full TimeDepartment: Finance FLSA Status: ExemptPosition Reports To: Chief Financial OfficerPosition Summary:The Controller is responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting operations, including the monthly close process, internal and external financial reporting, the annual operating budget, audit for HORAN Securities and internal controls and policy development for each entity. This role also manages and oversees the duties of the accounting team, including commissions deliverable.Core Responsibilities:Direct daily operations of general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, payroll, and cash flow management.Lead the monthly financial statement close process; ensure timely and accurate financial statements that are in compliance with GAAP.Manage commission tracking, revenue recognition and commission software system improvementPrepare the monthly financial statement reporting package that includes operating statements, balance sheets, sales reports and other key performance indicators that provide senior management with an accurate picture of the company's current and future financial position and operating results.Work with senior leadership team to prepare the annual operating budget for the companyOversee the preparation of bi-weekly payroll for all employees. Monitor performance of outside payroll provider to ensure service level standards are met.Evaluate, develop, and maintain accounting processes and policies for consistent application of GAAP.Establish, implement, and monitor appropriate internal controls and policies to ensure conformance and compliance with GAAP and other statutory requirements.Participate and lead the annual year-end audit process for HORAN SecuritiesManage the various U.S. statutory tax requirements, such as income, real and personal property, franchise, and sales and use taxes.All other special projects that may be assigned.Qualifications Required:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA desiredMinimum 8+ years of experience in public accounting or in a position equivalent to an accounting manager or controllerExcellent Excel spreadsheet skills and proficiency with Word and PowerPointAbility to carry out and delegate assigned tasks timely and efficientlyMust be a working manager, capable of operating in a fast-paced environment, able to handle pressure well, be self-motivated, detail-oriented and deadline drivenExcellent communication skills, both oral and writtenAbility to work in a demanding and intellectually challenging environment, and enjoy direct interaction and collaboration with senior managementHORAN History:About HORANSince 1948, HORAN has served as a trusted advisor offering employee benefits consulting, retirement planning, wealth management, and life insurance for estate and business planning.
