Job Description:

We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Housing Specialist to join our Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Department . This is a long-term assignment with immediate placement, ideal for candidates with high administrative skills, a passion for public service and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The Housing Specialist is responsible for administering various aspects of the Section 8/HCV program including certifications, eligibility assessments, rent calculations and client communications. You’ll play a key role in helping low-income families access safe and affordable housing, while ensuring compliance with HUD regulations and organizational policies. Qualifications: 2 years of college-level coursework in Business Math, Social Work, Community Relations or Communication – or equivalent experience. At least 2 years of experience in a social services or public-facing administrative role. Valid driver’s license required. Math skills , especially with percentages and fractions. Experience with contracts, policies and procedures. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Not currently a participant in the Housing Choice Voucher program. Preferred Skills: Housing Specialist Certification (or willingness to obtain). Knowledge of HUD and Section 8 program rules and regulations. High-level organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills . Attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment. Ability to maintain confidentiality and build trust with a diverse population.
