• Pay: $185k-$205k
• Equity: 0.8% - 1.75%

  What you'll do
  
  As our Founding Full-Stack Engineer at Portabl, you will become a critical part of our core team. You will have a hands-on role in
  
  • Building and extending our identity infrastructure to solve some of the trickiest problems in the ecosystem
  • Growing a best-in-class engineering group distributed largely in the US
  • Owning a standards-first approach to integrating external vendors and open source projects into the platform
  • Collecting & analyzing product feedback to refine our growth and expansion
  • Working closely with our co-founders to review and execute on the product roadmap
  • Making key decisions about architecture and vendor selection
  • Articulating a long term technical direction and vision for maintaining and scaling our core technology
  • Publishing robust public documentation and supporting efforts to build a developer community
    
    We are an early-stage startup, so we're looking for someone who is comfortable with ambiguity and has a strong desire to work both autonomously and in groups. You will have a ton of say and impact on the direction and future of our company and will help solve some of the biggest challenges we'll face.
    
    Requirements
    
    What you bring
    
    • 5+ years of full-stack development with a track record of building and delivering mission-critical, scalable, 24x7 production software systems
    • A track record of building, communicating, and implementing engineering and development policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent operations.
    • Proficiency at design and implementation of the MERN stack
    • Experience with modern microservices on AWS.(We are happy to be part of the AWS Activate program)
    • Proficiency with various databases (MongoDB, PostgreSQL), good understanding of pros/cons among alternatives
    • An appetite to be active in developer communities (e.g. stack overflow, github, discord, reddit, meetups, etc)
    • Deep interest in decentralized identity standards, e.g. verifiable credentials, zcap-ld, BBS+, etc.-you'll learn a lot with the team, if this is newish for you, that's okay!
    • Strong communication skills and knack for conveying complex concepts simply
    • A knack for onboarding and supporting external customers, particularly enterprise clients
      
      Nice to haves
      
      • Experience building/shipping an API-based fintech, crypto, or security product at scale
      • DevOps experience with Terraform, Docker, K8S, Helm, logging/monitoring tools
      • Know Your Customer (KYC) or Identity Verification (IDV) industry knowledge or experience
      • Working knowledge or interest in recent advancements to decentralized storage
      • Hands-on experience with Rust
