Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced engineer with a proactive approach to work and one who is driven in the pursuit of excellence. This position works closely with product line team members to improve first run capabilities, quality, and throughput, in addition to improving operational safety, manufacturing efficiencies, and reducing the overall cost to produce within their product line. We're looking for a team player who is also able to lead improvement efforts across cross-functional groups. Ownership of daily work elements (safety, quality, productivity, change and communication) is also expected for your product line.

Essential Job Functions/Duties

  • Support a safe working environment and safely conduct work in the plant. Lead by demonstrating safe behaviors and habits everywhere.
  • Design and implement improvement methods to aid in producing uniform product on a consistent basis. These methods typically involve set-up of data collection systems, statistical data analysis, and implementation of any solutions derived from these results.
  • Partner with QA and Raw Material team members to address and resolve all quality issues, focusing on root cause failure analysis tools to achieve.
  • Work intimately with maintenance team members to coordinate planned PMs, repairs, equipment replacement, and process modifications.
  • Lead teams through project design and implementation of improvement projects.
  • Identify equipment needs for production, including capacity, design, and system modifications.
  • Monitor equipment to ensure consistency of operation and output quality, help analyze failures, determine root cause(s), impact on product quality, cost, and operational efficiency, as needed.
  • Facilitate scale-up of equipment and process parameters when moving new products from R&D or the Pilot Plant to production.
  • Identify and reduce waste, in all its forms, within the product group.
  • Provide training and refresher courses as needed.
  • Troubleshoot problems that arise in the course of managing daily work (safety, quality, productivity, change and communication). Education Requirements
    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required. Chemical or Mechanical disciplines preferred. Required knowledge, skills, and abilities
      • Minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience preferred in the chemical process or related industries.
      • Ability to effectively communicate to all levels of management, technical staff, and other departments across the organization.
      • Be proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of products.
      • Be a great team member and be supportive of teammates.
      • Excellent time management skills to be able to manage schedules and work assignments for both self and others. Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities
        • Experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis tools.
        • Experience working with Process Safety Management (PSM) protocols.
        • Experience with Programmable Logic Control (PLC) platforms (Siemens/Allen-Bradley preferred).
        • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles.
        • Experience with Six Sigma principles.
        • Demonstrated project management skills.
        • Experience with Combustion engineering basics.
        • Familiarity with SAP basics. Work Environment

          At times, you will be exposed to cold or hot, dusty and noisy surroundings.
