Bioproduct Research & Development (BR&D) is a multidisciplinary
organization focused on the development and commercialization of
parenteral formulations, which include both small and large
molecules such as monoclonal antibodies, novel therapeutic
proteins, and peptides. The Process Engineer position is situated
within the Business Solutions team, which is responsible for
Development Mode FUME (Facilities, Utilities, Maintenance, and
Equipment). In this role, the Process Engineer will work in close
collaboration with BR&D scientists to support process equipment
throughout its entire lifecycle. The engineer is responsible for
developing and implementing a cohesive strategy to ensure the
qualification, maintenance, and safe operation of process
equipment, utilizing both Lilly team members and external vendors.
Responsibilities: Provide technical oversight of selected equipment
across BR&D laboratories and scale-up facilities, working
closely with operations, maintenance, and scientists to ensure safe
and efficient equipment operation that supports BR&D
activities. Actively participate in safety-related activities, such
as audits, job safety analyses, and hazard reviews, to continually
improve safety standards. Establish, monitor, and trend control
systems to verify and optimize equipment performance, including
equipment utilization. Develop and implement a comprehensive
strategy for cold storage across BR&D development mode
laboratories. Provide technical expertise in process safety
activities, which may include lock-out/tag-out procedures,
emergency pressure release, combustible dust management, and risk
assessments. Serve as a technical expert for capital projects and
facility/equipment design, participating in hazard assessments and
helping implement recommendations. Participate in corporate and
regulatory compliance audits and inspections, interact with
regulators, auditors, and customers during assessments, and lead
efforts to address gaps identified during these reviews. Provide
input into processes assessing the condition of major facility and
equipment assets to support recapitalization strategy. Coordinate
maintenance and shutdown activities among multi-functional
teams—including lab owners, operations, and maintenance
providers—to enable successful project completion. Interact with
various laboratory groups and act as the business representative to
define and execute facility renovation and laboratory equipment
projects. Collaborate with outsourced Facilities Management service
providers and engineering firms to achieve operational goals. Basic
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another directly
related engineering field. At least five (5) years of scale-up or
manufacturing equipment and facility experience providing
engineering support. Experience in commissioning, qualification,
and maintenance activities. Familiarity with equipment sets used in
biotechnology environments, such as environmental control units,
scales, benchtop laboratory equipment, and manufacturing equipment.

Experiences: Experience with computer systems such as SAP, PowerBI,
Veeva Vault, KNEAT, and GMARS. Familiarity with process control
systems (DeltaV) and use of process historians (PI). Other
Information: Typical work schedule is standard business hours,
Monday through Friday, and requires daily on-site support.
Occasional extended hours, after-hours, and shutdown support may be
required. Position is based in Indianapolis, IN. Minimal travel is

on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic
location. The anticipated wage for this position is $79,500 -
$171,600 Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a
company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual
performance). In addition, Lilly offers a comprehensive benefit
