Facility Engineer, GMP Experience (Chief Bldg Engineer Supervisor) JOB SUMMARY Provides facilities engineering, maintenance and other facilities services that support primarily the Pharmaceutical Research & Development (PRD) community. RESPONSIBILITIES Provides facilities engineering, maintenance and other facilities services that support primarily the Pharmaceutical Research & Development (PRD) community. The Facility Engineer provides utilities engineering, facilities engineering, project management, and customer equipment support for Pharmaceutical Research & Development. This includes, but is not limited to, managing large Project assets, shared systems (including utilities and facilities), and customer equipment assets. Position specifically supports Clinical Trials (dry and parenteral), Formal Stability and Reference Standards, parenteral and dry pilot plants, and various development laboratories. Portions of these facilities fall under GMP requirements, and this position will support critical facilities and systems specifically associated with GMP operations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Facilities and utilities regulatory compliance (FUME) is critical for effective operation of Product Development facilities. The Facility Engineer gains and effectively uses an understanding of both the regulatory requirements and customer operations, including, but not limited to, local and federal regulatory requirements. The Facility Engineer is responsible for managing budgets for utility and facility improvement projects. Responsibilities include estimating, engineering, developing scope, and facilitating customer satisfaction. The Facility Engineer communicates effectively and professionally in both written and verbal communications with internal customers, vendors, and contractors. The Facility Engineer interacts with all levels of management, crafts, and scientific personnel. The Facility Engineer proactively manages the existing asset base, completes small projects for the customer, and represents the customer on large projects. The Facility Engineer analyzes and implements proactive maintenance to meet regulatory requirements and economic feasibility. The Facility Engineer researches and implements new technology for replacement of equipment and operations assets. The Facility Engineer interacts with the local process engineering staff that supports PRD, including Clinical Trial operations. The Facility Engineer also interacts with central utilities and components of corporate engineering including the Engineering Tech. Center, Global Facilities Delivery, and Security. The Facility Engineer may also serve as a liaison to large capital projects that impact PRD Buildings. The Facility Engineer may be the owner of various shared systems throughout the building including non-GMP Condensate, Chilled Water, Steam, Potable Water, Process Water, Hot Water, Electrical, Vacuum, Dust Collection, Sanitary Sewer, Storm Sewer, Fire Protection and General Infrastructure. The Facility Engineer may be the owner of pest control including the yearly pest summary. Other responsibilities of the Facility Engineer include supporting the identification and accomplishment of departmental goals, and supporting the development and implementation of PR&D quality system process. The Facility Engineer is responsible for approving failed PMs, drawing updates, change controls for systems under their responsibility, and general work orders \n\n QUALIFICATIONS Must have good people skills to interact and communicate effectively to internal, external customers, share knowledge with craftsmen and peers including process, building and design engineers, and scheduler planner. This position also requires knowledge and capability to perform daily work activities with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Mgmt. Sys.) such as GMARS work order data base system, MS Outlook(email), calendar and network data base systems including word document process and spread sheet activities. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE Bachelors or equivalent experience in Engineering. Work in project management helpful. Previous work with engineering systems helpful. Facilities and utility management experience helpful. COMMUNICATION SKILLS Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive issues. FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE Requires advanced knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and commissions. Conducts advanced financial analysis. REASONING ABILITY Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES Physical requirements to include stooping, standing, climbing and frequent lifting of a minimum of 50 lbs. Must have the ability to operate an EMS and CMMS system. Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to handle multiple projects and make decisions. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY Decisions made with thorough understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve general results and deadlines. Responsible for setting work unit and/or project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to department. SAFETY Responsible for personal safety and the safety of those who are affected by your work. This includes but is not limited to: 1. Complete all required and assigned HSE training at a satisfactory level, 2. Follow all activity policies and procedures, including all HSE-related requirements at all times, 3. Participate in all HSE-related programs & activities as required, including incident investigations, interviews, auditing and assessment, etc. 4. Report any conditions which you feel could result in an accident or injury and / or stop work if required. As a Manager: 1. While adhering to all HSE requirements established for CBRE employees, supervisors and managers are additionally required to: a. Provide sufficient distraction-free time for employees to complete all required HSE training & support the HSE training program implicitly, b. Investigate and resolve (if possible) all reported unsafe conditions / acts and communicate results back to the affected stakeholders, c. Support "stop work" authority when it is exercised in good faith, d. Communicate any / all potential workplace hazards and workplace procedures.
