GENERAL SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating key components to support the successful execution of Your Kidneys and You community education program, Renal Roundtable professional medical education (and patient education) programs, Big Ask Big Give transplant program, special program pilots, and other projects as assigned.

This relationship should be characterized by effective communication, a positive attitude toward the growth of the Foundation and the achievement of its mission, through mutual understanding of the goals and development objectives of the National Organization.

The Program Manager will work with the marketto evaluate program performance and ensure activities are aligned with the NKF's strategic plan. The Program Manager may also work in collaboration with Regional leadership and development staff in fundraising efforts.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver NKF signature programs within the local community.
  • Assist with all aspects of planning, implementing, budgeting of signature programs and pilot programs.
  • Research, solicit, and secure donations and grants from funders.
  • Maintain and cultivate new partnerships with community, minority, healthcare, and legislative entities to ensure growth of programmatic efforts.
  • Assist with the Medical Advisory Board in coordinating minutes, regular communication, logistics and annual program reports.
  • Cultivate relationships with medical professionals, universities, and dialysis unit staff, with a focus on generating volunteers to support our programmatic initiatives.
  • Facilitate educational inquiries from patients, caregivers and the general public.
  • Manage all relevant internal and external program communications including, but not limited to printed and electronic marketing materials.
  • Assist in other local fundraising events in coordination with the development team including the annual Kidney Walk.
  • Recruit, manage and train volunteers for all programs and development needs.
  • Performs additional duties as required.
  • Develop and coordinate activities to strengthen "World Kidney Day" public education campaign and other public awareness activities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • College degree from an accredited college or university.
    • Minimum three year's work related experience managing community outreach and/or public education programs.
    • Masters degree with social administration, nonprofit management or other non-profit degree desirable.
    • Strong fundraising background desirable.
    • Experience in a health care field or with a voluntary health organization is preferred.
    • Experience generating social media content.
    • Prior experience coordinating special events and programs.
    • Excellent word processing skills, computer literate on Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Excellent telephone etiquette and professional manner.
    • Excellent interpersonal, time-management, and organizational skills.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and function independently and as part of a team.
    • Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to set priorities, multi-task and work independently, without close supervision.
    • Ability to deal effectively with deadlines and time pressure.
    • Professional demeanor, adherence to the rules of confidentiality and an ethic of respect for patients and volunteers.
    • Must be flexible for overnight travel with reliable transportation.
    • Flexible to work evenings and weekends as needed.
    • Bi-lingual Spanish/English strong plus.

      WORKING CONDITIONS, EQUIPMENT USED AND SPECIAL INFORMATION

      Must have unimpeachable integrity and trustworthiness while possessing a high degree of tact, discretion, and professionalism. Verbal and written communication skills will be used daily. Maintain effectiveness under pressure. Competency in use of a multiple-line telephone, personal computer, fax machine, photocopier, and other standard office equipment. Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 25 lbs. Flexible to work evenings and weekends as needed. Available for overnight business travel. Must have a valid driver's license.
