The Vice President, Strategic Accounts is an exempt level position that has the overall responsibility for direction of specific clients, segments and categories at Company. This position will develop top-to-top relationships with clients, clearly communicate and advocate for their business objectives with other functional departments within the firm. The Vice President, Strategic Accounts will mentor others on the Account Management team by providing objective advice, expertise and specialist skills with the aim of creating value, maximizing growth and improving the business performance of our clients. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES As a leader in the firm, the Vice President of Strategic Accounts must demonstrate fluency across five important vectors: quality of the work; client relationship; business growth; process; and team development. Quality of Work Exhibit strategic thought leadership in solving problems – using the Chase process to develop well-articulated strategies that solve project objectives and inspire creative development. Experience in leading project efforts on complex project at scale. Drive the work through the studio to meet the demands of the client, seeking input from your design and strategy partners and Executives/Managing Partners. Professional assessment of the final work output. Motivate a high degree of excellence in the quality of our work across functional teams. Client Relationship Is seen as a strategic advisor and indispensable partner to their clients. Is able to consultatively drive the client to what is right for their business, not just what is asked. Proficient in relationship building and interpersonal skills. Owns the client and is the key contact for any questions/concerns/problems. Articulates what Company can do for our clients. Big picture thinking. Fluent in problem solving processes. Business Growth The ability to grow existing relationships into longer engagements of continued revenue generation. Is able to spot opportunities to initiate new engagements and new sources of revenue. Collaborates with Managing Partners to secure and develop this new business. Develops project proposals, estimates and other materials for the scope of work. Prepares and manages project budgets yielding high margin success for Company. Ability to develop, influence, critique and execute compelling persuasive argument selling presentations for internal clients audiences and their external customer audiences. Process Champions the Company process. Is fluent and contributes to the frameworks and processes that define Company’s unique approach. Owns the responsibility of calling out breakdowns in the Company process and gets the project teams back on track. Works collaboratively with other functional disciplines to solve complex problems and develop these ideas into elegant design solutions. Team Development Provide coaching, mentorship and guidance to your functional team. Foster a collaborative, productive and positive environment. Focuses on the career succession of their team – actively investing in the development of the careers of their team members. Has a commitment to performance management – actively works with their team in skill building and performance improvement. Holds monthly staff meetings. Meets weekly with each direct report to ensure personal/professional development. Additional Responsibilities Immersed in the marketplace and business landscape of clients and comprehend the business and strategic aims of client work at a high-level. Demonstrate expertise in business strategy. Collaborate with the strategy and design teams to develop unique and meaningful strategies to grow client’s business. Contribute to and participate in research, from primary learning to who definition and expression to concept validation. oContribute to design thinking and creative ideation methodologies, including participating in or leading sessions. Lead client meetings and brainstorming sessions. oPrepare detailed project brief and materials necessary to communicate with the design team. oDocument meeting and progress toward project completion. Fluently communicate and present project materials that deliver strategy and design concepts to clients and senior leaders. Required Skills Strong leadership skills and extensive experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in creative problem-solving processes. Be able to apply a strategic approach to design that translates business strategy into persuasive design solutions. Ability to effectively lead and direct multi-functional teams of Account, Strategy, and Design members. Excellent judgment and ability to juggle multiple assignments in fast-paced environment. Strong client-facing communication and project management skills. Ability to recognize relevant patterns or synergies from among outwardly disparate sources; empathy for team members, clients, and—most uniquely—the audience(s) of our work. Continually seek new thinking and methodologies in business strategy, consulting, presentation, and other associated topics, through any relevant channels—conferences, published materials, experience audits, etc. Inquisitive, intellectually honest and brave enough to serve as devil's advocate yet humble enough to make an excellent collaborator. A lifelong learner and natural problem solver. A leader who can inspire and foster staff participation and growth. Required Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Social Sciences, Business Administration/Management or other related discipline. Advanced degree a plus. 15+ years of experience working in marketing and/or sales related position within a design consultancy or a consumer product goods company, or combination of work and an advanced degree. Proven client relationship and development experience.
