    RNFA Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of PositionResponsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-family entered care in the OR and other areas of Perioperative Services for all patient populations. Functions as an RN First Assist during Operative and other invasive procedures and throughout the Perioperative continuum in accordance withe the scope of practice credentials, privileges, experience, education and competency verification. Functions as a member of the surgical team in room preparation, turnover, and facilitation of the daily surgery schedule.Essential Job Functions
    • Demonstrates anatomy and physiology particular to the requirements of the surgical procedure; creates and maintains a sterile field; provides equipment and supplies based on the patient's needs and physician's preferences; performs sponge, sharps and instrument counts; administers drugs and solutions as prescribed; physiologically monitors patients during surgery; monitors and controls the environment; performs decontamination functions; operates as a RN Circulator as needed
    • Collects patient data on a systematic and continuous basis throughout clinical interactions, demonstrating consideration of growth and developmental needs; formulates nursing diagnoses based on health status data and establishes patient care goals based on nursing diagnoses; develops a plan of care that prescribes nursing actions to achieve patient goals; evaluates patient outcomes and measures effectiveness of nursing care. implements nursing actions in transferring the patient according to the prescribed plan
    • Performs nursing and first assist actions that demonstrate accountability including performance improvement. Collaborate effectively with other disciplines as applicable. Use problem solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members. Serve as an educator, mentor, consultant, and resource to peers, colleagues and others in relation to RNFA activities.
    • Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects. Participate in ongoing educational and competency verification activates applicable to RN and RNFA activities.Employment QualificationsEducation Qualifications - List the minimum education, training, and experience required to perform the essential functions of the position.Required Minimum Education:2 Year/ Associates Degree with ability to obtain BSN within 3 years of hireSpecialty/Major:NursingPreferred Education:4 year/ Bachelors DegreeSpecialty/Major:NursingLicensure/Certification Required:Current nursing license in the State of OhioBLS- through American Heart Association requiredRNFA training program completion at time of hireMinimum qualifications:2 years of Perioperative RN or RNFA experienceLicensure/Certification Preferred:Hold national certification in clinical specialty or leadership within 6 months of eligibilityRegistered Nurse: Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of PositionDelivers patient care utilizing the nursing process through data collection and assessment, identifies and determines the priority of patients problems/needs, and evaluates the process and outcome of nursing care; coordinates, provides and directs patient teaching activities and coordinates the care provided by health team members.Essential Job Functions
      • In collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team, conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyzes assessment data, creates a plan of care, implements treatment and evaluates treatment effectiveness; administers medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Ohio or Kentucky Nursing Practice Act and Mercy Health policies and procedures; serves as point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments
      • Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department
