scheduled in the 4 West Oncology Unit at The Hospital Health
Network main campus located at 2139 Auburn Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio
45219.This position may have contact with COVID position
patients.Every 3rdweekend and half of all holidays plus call
according to unit guideline2 years Medsurg or Oncology experience
required. RN must be willing to float to other areas as needed.
Travel RNs will be the first to float if census is down. Floating
to tele units may be required. Two or more holidays may be
required. Every third weekend (Saturday/Sunday), two Fridays per
month. Must be fully COVID vaccinated.Unit Description:Inpatient
Oncology Services (4-West) is a 30-bed unit. Patients may be
admitted to the unit at any time during the journey through the
cancer continuum, from initial diagnosis, surgery, chemotherapy,
management of complications and terminal care. Patients may also be
admitted with hematological disorders, especially sickle cell
crisis, and with medical-surgical conditions. On this unit, the
care is provided by a multidisciplinary team of registered nurses,
patient care assistants, physicians, case managers, health unit
coordinators, a clinical nurse specialist, an educator, chaplains,
nutritionists, social workers, physical therapists, occupational
therapists, and respiratory therapists. The team is strongly
committed to providing the highest possible quality of care to all
patients, and to the continual development of the entire staff.Job
Overview:This registered nurse uses specialized knowledge,
judgment, and skills to provide care to patients. The RN utilizes
knowledge derived from the principles of biological, physical,
behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to assess, plan,
implement, and evaluate patient care. All care is provided based on
the concepts inherent in the model of care for TCHHN (The Hospital
Health Network) which promotes an on-going partnership between
patients and families and the team of healthcare providers. The RN
provides care is culturally based and age specific. The RN adheres
to the American Nursing Association (ANA) code of ethics and to the
scope of practice described in the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.The RN
may perform the following duties:Complete a holistic assessment of
the patients physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and educational
needs utilizing The Hospital Professional Practice Model.Utilizes
collected data to establish and prioritize a list of actual, and
potential, individualized patient problems and needs.Prepares,
coordinates, and revises multidisciplinary plan of care in
collaboration with the patient and family to be supportive of the
TCH model of care/Patient and Family Centered care. For each
problem a measurable goal is set.Communicates the plan of care
utilizing SBAR and handoff processes with all team members.Performs
and delegates nursing actions based on appropriate orders and
demonstrates critical thinking and accountability for appropriate
implementation.Provides ongoing, individualized holistic patient
and family education based on needs and plan of care in
collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.Responds to emergency
situations that require an immediate, controlled precision in a
skillful manner.Implements measures to prevent contamination and/or
transmission of disease to include the use of appropriate
protective devices and equipment to prevent injury and maintain a
safe environment.Evaluates effectiveness of nursing care
interventions, adjusts or continues with plan of care based on
patient and family response.Documents information in a timely
manner, according to hospital policy, to include the plan of care,
accurate updates, teaching and the patients and family response to
