-Department: Life Skills - - - - - - - - - - - - - - FLSA Classification: - ExemptReports To: Life Skills Director Approved Mgmt - - 2021.01 LS-03Summary/ObjectiveThe Music Therapist uses music in a nurturing and therapeutic environment to develop relationships which will improve communication and expressive skills in support of the individual's wellbeing and ability to interact.Essential Functions/Job Duties:Complete all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the agency Code of Ethics.Maintain compliance to governing authorities including the Bureau of Quality Improvement in Services, Rule IAC 460, and the agency Quality Management System. -Assess individual needs and plan an appropriate schedule of sessions with the client's team to meet goals or outcomes.Write therapy plans using music, instruments, voice and dance to improve clients' psychological, physical, and social health; adapting instruments/equipment for specific needs as necessary. -Provide Chrono notes, progress reports and other documentation as required. -Participate in the team meetings providing goal outcome information and other information as needed. -Supports the client by facilitating relationships with family, friends and others in the community. -Works in a team setting with behavior therapists and others to provide appropriate intervention in a positive manner addressing behaviors, triggers to behaviors, neurological issues and others.Completes incident and injury reports, providing necessary intervention and assistance in emergencies. -Maintain ongoing communication with program managers and directors on client concerns, attendance and other issues. - -Maintain positive work relations and timely communicate with other agency staff and management.Responsible for the cleanliness of instruments and items used in the program of support.Other duties related to the mission of the agency and program outcomes as assigned. -Competencies /ProfessionalismExcellent organizational and time management skills and attention to detail.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to function well in a stressful environment, make judgements and appropriate decisions.Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.Acts in a manner that conveys professionalism and follows agency appearance standards.Work Environment -This job operates in a variety of locations to include facilities and in the community. - This position routinely uses computers and phones. - -Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The job may require lifting and/or moving - up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
