professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of
patients. The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe, effective
patient and family-centered care. The RN is responsible for
customer satisfaction and quality outcomes. The RN assists in
maintaining a financially stable unit. The RN promotes personal
development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and
education. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff
members. The RN applies the caring processes of the Kristin M.
Swanson Model of Care. The RN is responsible for assessing,
developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care. The RN
focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction.
The RN utilizes educational and professional experiences to deliver
quality care. The RN participates in mentoring and precepting
staff. Job Responsibilities: Performs assessments and reassessments
per policy or as warranted by patient condition. Demonstrates the
ability to make sound independent decisions. Initiates,
prioritizes, and implements the plan of care. Reviews and revises
the plan as indicated. Collaborates with patients, families, and
interdisciplinary services. Utilizes resources appropriately to
support organizational and patient needs. Monitors and documents
responses to clinical interventions. Facilitates, coordinates,
provides, and evaluates education specific to patient and family
needs. Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel.
Functions as a mentor or preceptor to staff. Demonstrates and
encourages teamwork among staff. Identifies and communicates
opportunities for improvement. Participates in quality, safety, and
service process improvement efforts. Implements practice changes
and complies with regulatory standards. Participates in the
