Assistance ProgramsPosition Description:The Field Technician
performs a variety of tasks in support of outside plant design for
power and telecom companies. He/she should have a basic knowledge
of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures used in the
field and will rely on established guidelines, processes, and
procedures to perform the functions of the job. The Field
Technician is expected to apply experience and knowledge to provide
solutions when guidelines will not meet expected outcomes and be
able to recommend new and/or improvements to documentation where
needed. Work is focused in and around the greater
Cincy/Dayton/Northern Kentucky areas, however, this position can
require overnight travel depending on where our employees live
compared to the work at a given time.The Field Technician:Execute
work orders for the fielding of infrastructure while meeting
quality, time, and budget constraintsCollect data by visually
identifying, inspecting, and recording equipment and structures in
the fieldMap data collected and apply established fielding
guidelines, processes, and proceduresCapable of independent work on
complex tasks within a competencyResolves problems encountered in
the collection and mapping of dataCollaborates with others to
optimize field processes and support the creation of the best
possible design printPerform walkouts kickoff/scope meetings with
customers to assist in route analysis, preparation of scope, and/or
to assist in the preparation of bid documentationPerform research
to identify pole ownership, right of way, property rights, and
permit requirements for proposedCommunicate with outside parties to
obtain right-of-way approvals and easementsPerform walkouts with
contractors of completed construction to review completed work for
accuracy and qualityProvides guidance to others for specific duties
in software, processes, and proceduresProvides quality control
reviewRequirements:Requirements:Education: High School Diploma or
equivalent required. Experience: experience in the industry is
preferred, but not requiredAbility to read and comprehend
engineering schematics is preferredKnowledge of construction and
planning proceduresStrong oral and written communication skillsAble
to work in all weather conditionsWilling to travel overnight during
the week as necessaryDependable transportation and valid driver's
license and insuranceAble to pass a background check/drug
test/driving record checkComputer literate - especially Microsoft
Word, Excel, OutlookAuthorized to work in the United StatesPhysical
Requirements:Must be able to endure frequent/lengthy: Driving,
standing, walking long distances (5 miles or more in a day),
navigating rough terrain on foot, and lifting/balancing objects
that may weigh up to -40 lbs. and require the use of upper
extremities and back muscles; work in proximity to moving vehicles
in the right of way.Must be able to endure sitting for prolonged
periods of time, including driving in a vehicle.Must have the
physical ability to perform activities such as visually
identifying, inspecting, and measuring objects as well as
transcribing notes in proximity to moving vehicles in the right of
way; these activities require close vision, distance vision, color
vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust
focus.Must have the physical ability to express or exchange ideas
by means of the spoken word and convey detailed or important spoken
instructions to other workers accurately, often in a group
setting.Must have the ability to receive detailed information
