Overview

The Logistic Specialist monitors environmental and government regulations for all logistics activities; responds to all trade compliance (import, export, dangerous goods) internal and external requests for information; resolves compliance issues; continuously enhances all Customs brokerage, export control, and dangerous goods policies and procedures to prevent chronic and potential issues. The role requires knowledge in completing the necessary documents for international and domestic cargo shipments in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

* Prepare shipping and export documentation required for international and domestic shipments * Help in planning and maintaining of logistics policies and procedures * Support the implementation of record keeping system for import and export documentation * Organize the shipping and delivering goods worldwide in smooth, timely and cost-effective manner * Review freight rates and other transportation costs to keep working costs low * Ensure compliance with safety, security, regulatory, and company policies are followed and carried out * Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, and frequency * Assure compliance with US Customs regulations and implement entry accuracy review procedures to verify country of origin, verify if any free trade agreement applies to entry, correct tariff classification and declared value * Implement Customs Brokers performance monitoring and control * Implement license control procedures for US export controlled parts * Responding to issue while communicating exceptions, resolutions and possible improvements to management * Prepare and process import and customs brokerage file * liaise and negotiate with customers and suppliers * Track and report shipment results * Research and resolve shipping complaints, lost items, and damages

Qualifications

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related field * 3-5 years of domestic and international logistics experience within the airline industry * 5+ years of experience in Customs brokerage and export control regulations and licensing * Strong understanding of U.S. Customs and related laws, regulations and requirements * Strong understanding of US Export Control laws, regulations and requirements * Able to work in a very fast paced environment * Excellent oral and written communication skills * Proficient with General Rules of Interpretation; USHTS, Code of Federal Regulations (19 CFR), ECCN, Export license application and control procedures * Knowledge and experience in shipping dangerous goods * Good analytical skills and ability to prioritize in the face of multiple tasks * Must be flexible and be available to work outside of scheduled hours as needed * Professional demeanor * Proficiency in the English language (Written/Verbal) is a must * Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) * Must possess integrity, honesty and strong work ethic

Skills:

* Knowledge and experience with CBP ACE system is a plus * Knowledge and experience in dealing with aviation products is a plus * Knowledge and experience with US export regulations (EAR and ITAR) * Ability to work with minimal supervision independently and as a member of a team * Previous Dangerous Goods certification with a good grasp of IATA and CFR 49 regulations * Attention to detail * Have a problem solving mindset * Ability to be resourceful and adapt to shifting priorities * Eagerness to learn and willingness to contribute to the role
