Strategic Account Manager, Food Service- Remote Location

Position Summary:

The Nutrition division of Archer Daniels Midland is searching for a Strategic Account Manager. The position will be remotely located and will utilize the Erlanger, KY location for support.

Nutrition offers a range of innovative ingredients for the beverage, food, supplement, and personal care markets. As a global market leader in food proteins, ADM's Nutrition group also manufactures numerous health and nutrition products, flavors, colors, lecithin, hydrocolloids and polyols.

The incumbent will be responsible for the following:

* Managing and developing relationships across key customer influencers and decision makers * Must be able to define and deliver the annual sales plan for assigned markets. * Find, vet and evaluate new business opportunities to develop market share and increase margin. * Gathering and using relevant market information to the input and design of the business strategy at customer, market, pricing and product level. * Interfacing with a portfolio of customers; negotiate sales contracts. * Managing sales contract execution from commercial agreement to delivery on time. * Managing sales volumes, pricing, credit issues, and contract status via interaction with the business support teams. * Employing customer related systems ranging from planning tools to CRM systems. * Coordinating special customer requirements through Organization. * Establishes plans and strategies to expand the customer base in the assigned market area and contributes to maintaining current customer relationships

Job Responsibilities:

* Prepares action plans for effective search of sales leads and prospects * Initiates and coordinates development of action plans to penetrate new customers and/or markets according to the strategic roadmap * Assists in the development and implementation of marketing and trade show plans relative to their assigned market segment * Provides timely, accurate, competitive pricing on all completed prospect applications submitted for pricing and approval, while striving to maintain maximum profit margin * Maintains accurate records of all quotes, sales, activity reports and contract balances * Creates and conducts customer presentations * Ability to call on R&D/technical groups to sell value-added ingredients with ability to sell solutions based on stated needs of a technical audience * Provide detailed reporting to sales leadership through the use of SalesForce and other analytical tools * Controls expenses to meet budget guidelines * Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes * Maintains face-to-face contact with all clients in the market area to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction

Job Requirements:

* An undergraduate degree is required, preferably in a Technical discipline, MBA or related advanced degree desirable * A minimum of 5 years of experience in the food ingredient or supplement industry. * Extensive overnight travel throughout the region is required * Proven experience building new and existing relationships with key customers, including those in key strategic decision-making positions at headquarter level. * Superior strategic and tactical business planning skills. * Excellent written and oral communication skills * Demonstrated skill using a CRM system such as Salesforce * Teamwork skills--ability to share ideas, work with and assist other members to ensure the success of the team. * Strong organization, time management and negotiation skills.

Relocation is available with this position.
