General Statement of Duties

Responsible for duties and/or a program which requires a high degree of specialization and/or professional certification. Examples: publicist, videographer, graphics designer, certified personal trainer, wheelchair games coordinator.

A. POOL MONITOR

This position may require working a flexible schedule which may include evenings and weekends. Must be able to work other than normal hours and be available to work as scheduled based upon the needs of the department. May be required to work in outdoor elements such as sun, heat and rain. Responsible for observing participant behaviors inside pool area and surrounding area recognizing escalating individuals and groups of individuals, evaluating and interceding as needed including calling 911 to maintain a safe environment for participants and staff. Assists pool staff with Department of Recreation rules enforcement. Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission (OPOTC) or Private Security Training Certification preferred. May be required to assist gate monitor with customer service, revenue collection and gate admittance procedures. Walks the pool deck, and communicates effectively with pool patrons and staff. Must have current or be able to pass American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer / AED and First Aid certifications. Assists in emergencies according to the facility emergency action plan.

Must be willing to take direction from pool manager and pool supervisors. Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Must follow Department of Recreation rules, regulations and guidelines, especially those relating to safety, customer service and finance. Attend pool monitor training session at preseason training, and on site pool training. Must be 18 years of age or older. Age 21 or older preferred. Must wear Department of Recreation staff wear and maintain a clean and positive demeanor and appearance.

B. POOL SUPERVISOR

Responsible for supervision of day-to-day operations, pool programming, rentals and special events at multiple pool facilities, including supervision of managers, staff scheduling (within budget constraints), adherence to minor labor laws, collection of necessary paperwork, ordering needed equipment and supplies, overseeing revenue collection, membership card distribution, pre and post season inventory and collection of equipment and supplies. Must communicate well, both written and orally. Responsible for overseeing performance evaluations of pool managers, lifeguards and pool staff. Responsible for collection of time sheets and assisting with the payroll process. Must maintain open lines of communication with Aquatic Director and Community Center Service Area Coordinators and Pool Managers. Must be able to work with minimum supervision. Must have current or be able to pass American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED and First Aid certifications. Current Certified Pool Operator or Aquatic Facility Operator preferred. American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard Training Instructor, and previous management experience preferred. Must have valid Ohio Driver License, CRC van driver training and be eligible to drive a city vehicle or provide own vehicle transportation. Must be able to work other than normal hours and be available to work as scheduled based upon the needs of the department. Attend and instruct Manager/Assistant Manager/Gate Monitor Training, preseason training, and on-site pool trainings. Must be 21 years of age or older. Must wear Department of Recreation staff wear and maintain a clean and positive demeanor and appearance.

C. POOL ASSISTANT SUPERVISOR

Works under the supervision of the pool supervisor. Responsible for assisting with supervision of day-to-day operations, pool programming, rentals and special events at multiple pool facilities, including supervision of managers, staff scheduling (within budget constraints), adherence to minor labor laws, collection of necessary paperwork, ordering needed equipment and supplies, overseeing revenue collection, membership card distribution, pre and post season inventory and collection of equipment and supplies. Must communicate well, both written and orally. Assists pool managers with performance evaluations of assistant pool managers, lifeguards and pool staff and with necessary pool operations paperwork. Assists with time sheets and the payroll process. Must maintain open lines of communication with Pool Supervisors and Community Center Service Area Coordinators and Pool Managers. Must be able to work with minimum supervision. Must have current or be able to pass American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED and First Aid certifications. Current Certified Pool Operator or Aquatic Facility Operator preferred. D. POOL PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Responsible for planning and supervision of pool programming and special events at multiple pool facilities. Assists pool supervisors with necessary staff scheduling (within budget constraints and adherence to minor labor laws) to assure quality instructional programs. Responsible for instructor educational trainings pre season and in season and documentation of required instructor certifications. Collects necessary paperwork, orders needed equipment and supplies , maintains pre and post season inventory and collection of equipment and supplies. Must communicate well, both written and orally. Must maintain open lines of communication with Aquatic Director, Pool Supervisors, Pool Managers and Community Center Service Staff. Must be able to work with minimum supervision. Must have current or be able to pass American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED and First Aid certifications. Must have American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or Lifeguard Training Instructor. Must have valid Ohio Driver License, CRC van driver training and be eligible to drive a city vehicle or provide own vehicle transportation. Group Life Insurance

City employees that are in the non-protective services can participate in a flex term life insurance and long term disability plan. Premiums are determined by age, amount of coverage, and tobacco use.

Flexible Benefits Plans

Healthcare Flex Spending Account

City employees can participate in the Healthcare Flex Spending Account that can be used to pay out-of-pocket medical, prescription, dental, and vision care expenses for employees and family member. Participants can set aside up to $2,500/year in pre-tax payroll deductions.

Dependent Care Flex Spending Account

City employees can participate in a Dependent Care Flex Spending Account that can be used to pay work-related dependent care expenses. Participants can set aside up to$2,500/year for a single person or married person filing separately and up to $5,000 for a married couple or single person filing head of household in pre-tax payroll deductions.

Transportation Expense Reimbursement Account

City employees can participate in a Transportation Expense Reimbursement Account (TERA) that can be used to reimburse expenses related to traveling to and from work. Participants can set-up a pre-tax payroll deduction up to $230/month.

Healthy Lifestyles Program

City employees can voluntarily participate in a wellness incentive program that encourages and rewards employees and their spouses/equal partners for making positive choices for better health. The City of Cincinnati will contribute up to$500/year to a Health Reimbursement Account for each the employee and their spouse/equal partner for meeting specified program goals. These dollars can be used to offset qualified out-of-pocket medical expenses.

Integrated Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA)

This is a voluntary program that serves as an alternative healthcare option to the traditional medical plan. If you have alternate group health coverage available to you through a spouse, equal partner, another job, or a non-city retirement plan, you may qualify for an annual reimbursement of up to $10,000 to offset the cost of enrolling in the other plan and your out of pocket expenses associated with that plan.

Retirement Plan

The City provides a defined benefit pension plan for part-time and full-time employees. New hires and re-hired employees are required to participate in the City of Cincinnati's Retirement System (CRS), regardless of previous participation in an Ohio State pension system or any another state or federal pension system. CRS is funded by employer and employee contributions, and investment returns from plan assets. CRS provides retirement and health care benefits subject to eligibility requirements. The following groups are excluded from participation in CRS: Mayor and Members of City Council; Sworn Police & Fire; Police Recruits; and Rehired Ohio Police & Fire Retirees.

Deferred Compensation

The City offers employees a choice of two tax-deferred retirement savings programs, Ohio Public Employees Deferred Compensation (OPEDC) program and ICMA Retirement Corporation (ICMA-RC). Both programs allow employees to build a retirement nest egg through voluntary, pre-tax payroll deductions. A broad range of investment options are available to select from.
