Job DescriptionDepartment: Welcome Center FLSA Classification: Non-ExemptReports To: Welcome Center Supervisor Approved Mgmt: 2022.03 Summary/ObjectiveResponsible for providing janitorial, maintenance, and grounds keeping services at the assigned facility to ensure a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for motorists using the facility.Essential Functions/Job Duties:

  • Completes cleaning duties according to the specifications provided by the Department of Transportation.
  • Picks up trash on lawn and parking areas and sweeps curb areas to prevent litter build up.
  • Checks and cleans shelter houses as directed. Sweeps cement slab and washes/wipes picnic tables as needed. Removes ashes from charcoal grills and scrubs grills with wire brush as needed.
  • Mows grass areas according to specifications issued by the Department of Transportation, trimming around all buildings, landscaping, sign posts and curbs. Removes grass clippings from sidewalks, parking lots and picnic slabs immediately. Weeds shrub beds as needed.
  • Removes snow and/or ice from sidewalks and main entrance patio as necessary to insure safety.
  • Completes necessary forms and reports required by the Department of Transportation and Agency.
  • Must be willing to assist in the coverage of other attendant's shifts in the event of illness or unforeseeable absences. This may include having to work a double shift, as the Welcome Center cannot be left unattended.
  • Participates in scheduled training activities to enhance professional growth. Takes an active role in developing skills for own growth.
  • Assists other NHR staff as required or assigned with duties and tasks, as needed to carry out the goals and objectives of the organization.Competencies

            • While performing the duties of this position, the employee requires the ability to see, speak or hear.
            • Specific vision abilities required are close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
            • Has good balance, eye-hand and foot coordination.
            • Ability to work and sustain attention and focus with distractions and/or interruptions.
            • Ability to deal with adverse circumstances.
            • Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
            • The employee has the physical ability to walk, stand, sit, bend, squat, turn, pivot, reach, carry, and grasp with hands.
            • The employee has the physical ability to lift or maneuver up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds on occasion.Other Requirements
              • Employees report to work in good clean appearance, hygiene and dress.
              • Capability to adapt to changes.
              • Availability to work evening or weekend hours if necessary.
              • Must have a valid driver license.Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
                • This position may be required to work part-time or full-time hours. Working between 20 to 40 hours per week, based on schedule needs. Required Education and Experience
