This position is for a Shipping Supervisor in the Midwest Region at
the Connersville, IN location. This position is a Night Shift
Position and reports to the Shipping Leader. The purpose of the
job: is to maintain a safe, clean, and organized plant. Lead,
train, coach, and develop team members to safely produce the
highest possible quality products, at the lowest possible cost. To
reach the company's desired goals for housekeeping, safety,
quality, COTD, and production goals by ensuring that the team
members follow all company policies, practices, and procedures to
meet, and/or exceed customer expectations.
Oversee the administration of all daily, monthly, quarterly, and
annual activities, including operational reporting, team member
evaluations, write-ups and record keeping, quality records,
payroll, and employee coaching for attendance & performance.
Develop and deploy work instructions.
Corrective action requests, investigations for safety and quality
issues, as well as other documents as required.
Ensure all work conducted has a proven and tested, safe method for
Teach, train and coach all team members to conduct their work
following our known safe work practices and procedures.
Instill safe work culture, where excellent housekeeping serves as
the primary foundation, and team members are masters in identifying
"At Risk Behavior" and avoiding unreasonable exposure to themselves
Identify and correct unsafe conditions, prior to Injury Free Events
Act promptly to address items discovered through IFE, WOC, and
Conduct regular safety audits and formal observations.
Deliver daily pre-shift safety meetings and deliver safety
stand-downs as required.
Lead, guide, train, and direct team members to achieve expected
productivity and quality goals and objectives.
Follow pre-defined load schedules, and documented quality
procedures, load specs, and work instructions to repeatedly deliver
high-quality products at the lowest scrap and possible cost.
Restock supplies as needed and ensure team members have adequate
tools required to follow practices and perform their jobs
Control non-conforming material on hold, trigger problems as they
occur, and utilize problem-solving systems to prevent
Constantly identify opportunities, and oversee the improvement of
plant scrap, downtime, and productivity.
Work on continuous improvement throughout the plant.
Ensure continued development of employees via training on new jobs
and procedures, providing operational bench strength, and coverage
for employees on vacation, etc.
Ensure all load paperwork is completed correctly as defined by
policies, and procedures.
Review, and relay information from upper management to the
employees on the shop floor, and vice versa.
Direct all team members to be competent, responsible, and
accountable for their actions.
Attend weekly and monthly meetings or as required by the
Provide a safe working environment for all in the department and
enable personal growth
Personal computer basics (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles (EBS)
Excellent Problem-Solving skills, combined with Leadership skills
that capitalize on bringing the best out in team members.
Bachelors preferred, 5 years supervisory experience, minimum High
Experience in the aluminum extrusion business. Very knowledgeable
of manufacturing equipment in this facility for use, maintenance,
troubleshooting, and performance.
Formal Leadership training is a must. (Managing multiple objectives
and deadlines, team building, conflict resolution, performance
appraisal process, first aid, CPR, mobile equipment and crane
training, precision measuring equipment training, etc.
