Job Description Summary
The Senior Staff Engineer - Military Systems will report to the Cincinnati based Military Field Integration Team (FIT) Systems Engineering Sub-Section Manager and be responsible for engineering support of the GE powered large combat and trainer aircraft. In this role you will work closely with design, systems, product line leadership, product support and field service engineers as well as the USAF and foreign military allies around the world to solve challenging field problems to support customers objectives and warfighters around the world.
This role will have systems engineering responsibility for engine control components/ software/ flight manual and pilot awareness expertise and overall engine system field support and problem solving.
Job Description
As a Senior Staff Engineer - Military Systems, you will:



  • Execute, with limited guidance assigned projects using sound engineering principles while adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product & program requirements


  • Continue to develop expertise in own function. Influence policy and ensure delivery within area of responsibility while partnering with other parts of the organization.


  • Interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes, or services.


  • Utilize understanding of industry trends to inform decision making process.


  • Lead field problem investigations


  • Provide technical support for safety risk assessments


  • Provide engine troubleshooting expertise and tech data interpretation


  • Establish plans and coordinate activities of multi-disciplined teams to achieve technical requirements, schedules, and contract commitments


  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments


  • Develop technical content and substantiation for field management plans


  • Analyze field reliability data to develop appropriate customer field action recommendations


  • Maintain broad awareness of efforts within section to assure technical quality excellence, timely completion of work and reviews, appropriate use of resources, and responsiveness to customer / program needs


  • Communicate complex messages and negotiate technical challenges with others to adopt different points of view.


  • Influence peers to take action and negotiate with external partners, vendors, or customers.


  • Be a key participate/owner in developing and executing customer funded improvement programs


  • Assure proper documentation of technical data consistent with engineering policies and procedures


  • Mentor and coach colleagues with less experience


    Qualifications/Requirements


    • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university or college (or high school diploma/6 years of discipline centered GE Experience in Systems Engineering)


    • A minimum of 5 years of experience working with engine control systems
