Job Description **2nd shift** Offers a generous shift differential** 3:30pm-12:00am Mon-Fri *OT may be requested Hi-Tek is a Drug-Free Workplace and conducts pre-employment drug and background screening and random drug screening. General Purpose Reporting to the Toolroom Supervisor, the Tool and Die Maker specializes in the construction, repair, maintenance, and calibration of machine shop dies, jigs, fixtures, and gages. Operates various machine tools and performs other highly skilled work, such as laying out, fitting, and assembling parts. May involve considerable development work, highly skilled fitting, and adjusting. Occasionally construct tools where no design is available on an as-needed basis. Work is usually entirely independent of others. Essential TasksAnalyzes and interprets blueprints, schematics and CAD drawings as required to create and build new fixtures, tools, and machine parts.Selects appropriate raw material and machine processes as required to complete project to specificationsMust be proficient at operating all toolroom machines, such as Knee Mills, 3-5 axis mills, lathes, surface grinders, saws, etc.Uses applied shop math such as Geometry and Trigonometry to determine proper path to takeModifies machines to control speed, material feed, or path of cut as required to ensure a quality product is produced within specifications.Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to required tolerances on design drawings using precision measuring equipment including but not limited to sine plates, gauge blocks, Cadillac gauge, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators.Documents actions by reporting labor in the ERP systemMaintains a safe and clean work environment by performing daily housekeeping dutiesDemonstrates the ability to lift to 35 pounds regularlyAccomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishment.Follow all Hi-Tek policies and procedures, including the use of proper PPEAlways take ownership and be accountable for your actionsGood and reliable attendance and a teamwork attitude are expected Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED equivalentMust be proficient at operating all toolroom machines, i.e., mills, lathes, grinders, saws, etc.Good technical math skills (shop math, geometry, and trigonometry)Must be a United States Citizen, or a US Permanent Resident Desired AttributesHigh-level verbal/written communication skills - Work independentlyAttention to detailProblem solving/critical thinkingSelf-motivatedEagerness to learn Physical Demand LevelsLift, Push, and Pull up to 35 pounds regularlyRoutinely perform reaching, twisting, bending, and grasping to move and set tools, equipment, and materials at least 50% of scheduleStand at least 95% of scheduled shiftPerform under AS9100 standards This job description is a tool to be followed.
