Job Description:
The Hamilton County Educational Service has an opening for the
position of Head Start Early Childhood Intervention Specialist.JOB
SUMMARY:To provide academic and behavioral instruction, supports,
and services in Head Start Environments to students experiencing
developmental, behavioral and/or mental-health needs, the goal
being to build supports and skills so that every student can access
and be successful in the Head Start Environment. To provide
supports to families so that skills can be carried over at home.
Provide home intervention services for Head Start students
requiring temporary home-based instruction either related to health
issues, extended illness or during transition to a therapeutic
program or Local Education Agency (LEA / District). Collect child
data to support referrals to outside agencies - either LEAs or
Mental Health Programs. Maintain through documentation of
observations and supports provided to individual children in a Head
Start Child Plus Data Base.QUALIFICATIONS:Ohio licensure and
highly-qualified status as a Preschool Intervention Specialist;
Early Childhood Intervention Specialist (PK-3) License or Education
of the Handicapped with an endorsement of Early Education of the
Handicapped. Spanish bi-lingual skills desired. High tolerance of
paperwork and documentation with attention to detail is desirable.
Must have a valid Ohio Driver's License, insured car and clean
driving record. Must be able to travel to various locations on a
daily basis. Pass criminal background checks. Within thirty (30)
days of employment, must pass an initial health physical including
tuberculosis screening to assure you can manage the physical
demands of the job and to assure you are in good health and that
there is no significant risk to the health and safety of
others.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Adhere to agency policies and
procedures including uphold and enforce Head Start Performance
Standards and the HCESC Head Start Disability and Mental Health
Service Plans.2. Working knowledge of LEA referral/evaluation
process.3. Working knowledge of ETR and IEP documents.4. Provide
consultation, resources, environmental and/or curriculum
adaptations/modifications to Head Start Classroom team and parents
regarding student's individualized needs.5. Provide behavioral
instruction and support (e.g., Positive Behavior Supports, social
skills, affective education, and communication) through
Developmentally and Individually Appropriate Practices in alignment
with researched-based best practices.6. Maintain all required
paperwork relating to the academic and behavioral instruction,
supports, and services for all assigned students, including, data
related to Individual Education Plans (IEPs), development of
functional behavioral assessments (FBAs), Critical Incident
Reports, and any other assigned reports,7. Accurately and
efficiently enter data into Head Start Child Plus Data Program.8.
Work collaboratively with the Classroom Team, building staff,
parents/guardians, and community-support providers.9. Attend and
contribute to all required staff meetings and team meetings as
appropriate.10. Maintain accurate mileage reporting and
documentation of professional training hour.11. Must be able to
travel to various locations on a daily basis.12. Making provisions
for being available to families for education or program related
required purposes outside the "typical" work day when required or
requested.13. Report to work and perform designated duties in
accordance with the established time schedule/calendar14. Protect
the confidentiality of all Head Start students.15. Assist in
maintaining an inventory of classroom and parent resource material
and follow checkout procedures of resource materials.16. Performs
other duties consistent with the position as assigned.EQUAL
