The Electrical Engineer will make vital contributions to the New Product Development (NPD) pipeline and transform patient care through innovation. They are responsible for working with our NPD teams to specify, develop, and verify Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) designs for new embedded systems products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and development of FPGA and FPGA-based SoCs used in new electronic products ranging from simple hardware solutions to highly complex embedded processing systems.
  • Develop detailed specifications based on requirements and implement FPGA designs in accordance with those defined requirements and/or specifications.
  • Collaborate with other design team members to evaluate and select electronic components during the development process and determine the best approach based on performance, cost, and resources.
  • Partner with external product development / manufacturing organizations in defining requirements, performing electronic and software subsystems, and launching new products.
  • Develop test benches and test tools as needed to complete verification of FPGA designs.
  • Participate in the bring-up of new, custom FPGA-based hardware with support from firmware and electrical engineers.
  • Support hardware development through schematic design and printed circuit board layout (PCBA) layout.
  • Document ideas, designs, specifications, and instructions per design control processes.
  • Establish and maintain strong, productive relationships and collaborations across internal, external, and partner organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Required:
    • Minimum Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related engineering field
    • Minimum 3 years of engineering or science related field
    • Product design and analysis experience, including an understanding of subsystem interface to overall system design
    • Familiar with VHDL and/or System Verilog
    • Experience with authoring hardware and/or FPGA requirements and design documentation
    • Requires up to 25% travel, domestic and international travel
    • Ability to work at the Cincinnati, OH site

      Preferred
      • Advanced Degree
      • Proven experience in FPGA design
      • Experience working in a highly regulated industry
      • UVM (Universal Verification Methodology) and code coverage experience
      • Experience with System-On-Chips (SoC), including AXI communications and FPGA/software interactions
      • Experience implementing standard security/cryptographic algorithms (e.g., AES, RSA, ECC, etc.)
      • PCBA design experience
      • Experience with high speed digital PCBA design, simulation, and testing
      • Design control, verification, and validation experience
      • Strong collaboration and conflict resolution skills
