Summary of Responsibilities:
The Portfolio Analyst provides direct support to the Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager with varying responsibilities. Works closely with Portfolio Managers and other team members to enhance the portfolio management process via the development and maintenance of various databases, financial models and information systems. Contributes to the development and maintenance of internal and external reporting. Interfaces with investment teams, operations, accounting and marketing functions to facilitate the flow of information between all areas. The associate is exposed to all facets of fixed income and equity portfolio management processes, including portfolio construction, trading, risk management and reporting. Works with minimal supervision and is responsible for making an established range of decisions, escalating to management when necessary and updating manager on a regular basis.

Position Responsibilities:
Provides daily, monthly and quarterly reporting for internal risk management as well as customized and standardized reporting for all affiliated and external clients.
Maintains and enhances existing databases, financial models and reporting systems, including data entry, data integrity and process optimization. Assists in review and diligence of new systems.
Analyzes macro-economic and/or market variables/sectors, and any other ad hoc analytical requests from both internal and external constituents.
Assists with the use and maintenance of portfolio management and trading systems, including Bloomberg, PAM, PACE, MarketAxess, and FactSet.
Provides input into the construction, management and monitoring of portfolios - this includes risk positioning, trade strategies and implementation.
Potential to evolve into a decision-making member of the investment team, with the ability to analyze and recommend investments for inclusion in various mandates.
Performs other duties or analysis as assigned by management.

Selection Criteria:
Demonstrated interest in the asset management business.
Proven strong quantitative and analytical skills, including demonstrated experience identifying, defining and resolving complex problems, and collecting or interpreting data to establish facts and draw valid conclusions to provide effective resolutions. Proven experience with sound decision-making skills when dealing with multiple alternatives. Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and apply new methodologies.
Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to convey information to internal and external customers in a clear, accurate, focused and concise manner and presentation style. Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of staff and management. Demonstrated ability to prepare correspondence and reports in a manner that is understandable to others and prepared using a prescribed format. Verbal and written communications are to conform to proper rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style.
Proven experience coordinating multiple projects/assignments simultaneously and completing assigned tasks accurately and on a timely basis. Must demonstrate strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills. Excellent organization and time management methods used to manage or prioritize workload demands is essential. Proven experience in project management including planning, executing and maintaining a project from start to finish.
Demonstrated experience and ability to work independently including identifying and resolving problems where independent decision-making and initiative are required. Experience working under multiple deadlines and with minimal supervision and little or no direction. Strong project management skills and ability to develop, organize, initiate and take the lead on projects, as well as the ability to complete required goals in a time-sensitive manner.
Proven experience working in a team environment interacting effectively with and assisting team members while collaborating on team goals.
Demonstrated ability to adapt in learning new and sophisticated systems and processes as well as enhancing efficiency of current methods.
Proven strong results-driven orientation. Possesses a strong quantitative background with working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, primarily Excel and PowerPoint.
Work Setting:
This position works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.
Requires visual acuity to read a variety of correspondence, reports and forms, and to prepare and analyze data in an accurate, neat and thorough manner.
Requires the ability to continuously make repetitive motions of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in finance or a quantitative-related degree.
Computer Skills and Knowledge of Hardware & Software Required:
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of Visual Basic or similar programming and knowledge of database software and design and application a plus.
Certifications & Licenses (i.e., Series 6 & 63, CPA, etc.):
CFA designation or willingness to work toward obtaining the CFA or MBA.
Position Demands:
Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects.
