impact. - Overview -
The Senior Cost Financial Analyst is a key member of the North
American (NA) Aftermarket Finance team who will have responsibility
for all costing activity within the North American Aftermarket.
This individual will be expected to have a thorough knowledge of
the costing process across all systems. The ideal candidate should
be someone who is always looking for ways to improve and simplify
existing processes and is comfortable driving the improvements
themselves.The Senior Analyst will report directly to the Finance
Manager, Operations and Costs (located in Florence, KY) and can be
located either at the NA Aftermarket headquarters in Florence, KY
(near Cincinnati) or at the manufacturing facility in Plainfield,
IN (near Indianapolis). Job Responsibilities: --- - - -Lead the
costing process for all NA Aftermarket locations, which includes
the annual standards roll in addition to costing activities
throughout the year
--- - - -Proactively evaluate the costing process and systems,
identify and implement solutions to improve, standardize, and
simplify the costing
--- - - -Responsible for the accuracy of the NA Aftermarket annual
standard cost which includes:
- - - -o - - -Calculate the appropriate standard costs for
material, freight, duty, labor, burden, scrap, new for used, and
core elements
- - - -o - - -Coordinate with various business unit functions
including operations, packaging, purchasing, materials, and
logistics
- - - -o - - -Analyze year over year variances to ensure accuracy
and provide explanations for larger variances
- - - -o - - -Coordinate with inter-plant locations to ensure
timely cost roll
- - - -o - - -Accurately and timely load all updated standard costs
into the ERP system
- - - -o - - -Ensure compliance with Meritor Financial Policy and
Guidelines
--- - - -Develop a thorough understanding of labor and burden
performance and expectations, proactively identify risks so they
can be appropriately and timely mitigated
--- - - -Actively participate in operational meetings to discuss
risks and opportunities
--- - - -Proactively give sound advice and analysis to assist the
operations team with making good business decisions
--- - - -Assist the Finance Manager with preparing and evaluating
operational appropriation requests, review for appropriateness, and
include all applicable support to ensure maximized return on
company funds
--- - - -Actively engaged with the business to identify and
implement process improvements
--- - - -Ensure all core accounting is accurately reported and
appropriately supported
--- - - -Analyze and record monthly inventory transaction journals
including purchase price variance, absorption, cost of sales,
interplant purchases/sales, and core entries
--- - - -Reconcile inventory and other cost accounts from
sub-ledger to general ledger. Prepare trend analysis to identify
anomalies. Monitor problem accounts or activity including core,
in-transit, interplant, A/P interface, and other transactions.
--- - - -Resolve differences and publish results.
--- - - -Prepare and enter other journal entries as needed
--- - - -Ensure that work processes and initiatives are undertaken
in a fiscally, legally and operationally responsible manner and are
subject to review and/or audit on a regular basis
--- - - -Limit financial exposure by ensuring compliance with
corporate policies and support remediation of any deficiencies
--- - - -Actively participate in the annual physical inventory
process to ensure accuracy and compliance with Meritor Financial
Policy
--- - - -Support internal and external audits as required
--- - - -Ensure thorough documentation of key tasks and
processes
Job Requirements:
--- - - -Degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Finance
or Accounting is required
--- - - -MBA and/or CPA/CMA a plus but not required
--- - - -Minimum 3 -years cost accounting / financial analysis
experience
--- - - -Prior standard cost experience required
--- - - -Prior physical inventory and/or cycle count experience
required
--- - - -Strong analytical and organization skills
--- - - -Strong verbal and written communication skills
--- - - -Ability to function in a changing environment and meet
scheduled deadlines
--- - - -Strong Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and
Access skills required
--- - - -Experience with Oracle and/or AS400 is a plus but not
required
--- - - -Minimal travel - approximately 5%, primarily between
Florence and Plainfield (can typically be day or overnight trips)
