Job Overview
The Department of Public Safety is looking for a Training & Development Consultant to perform a variety of professional and administrative management support duties involving assessing, researching, designing, developing, coordinating, and delivering training initiatives for the Department of Public Safety training program. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff and all other activities.
Essential Functions

  • Consult with administration and staff to assess training needs, solicit program support, and identify program objectives; create and implement training and development initiatives implementing adult learning theory and instructional design principles; evaluate training and development initiatives and make enhancement recommendations.
  • Design and implement professional development programs; develop continuous learning and succession planning helping to drive talent management assessment and initiatives, employee engagement, performance management, and competency modeling.
  • Provide consultation to organization in development of internal training programs; design and develop training programs and workshops; promote training and development programs and activities; coordinate work group training and development programs; conduct or assist others in the delivery of training and development programs; evaluate and modify training programs to meet program objectives.
  • Manage the department's Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Collect and evaluate feedback from employee surveys and exit interviews regarding training and development to further develop, enhance, or modify initiatives and programs.
  • Prepare related reports and documentation.
  • Assign work; ensure proper workflow of the unit; act as lead worker.
  • May be exposed to sensitive topics related to police or similar training and simulated high-stress environments.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
  • Perform related duties based on departmental needs. This job description can be changed at any time. Required Education
    • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
    • Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement Required Experience
      Three (3) years of curriculum design and employee development experience
      Additional Qualifications Considered
      Experience in principles of adult learning theory and instructional design
